Initial Evaluation
90 - 120 minutes: $1,200
During the initial evaluation, I will meet with you and your child to review the reasons why you are seeking a psychiatric assessment and treatment. You will have an opportunity to speak with me in private to discuss your concerns, and I will also speak with your child in private (if possible) to gain a more complete understanding of what they are experiencing.
At the end of the session, I will discuss my thoughts regarding a diagnosis or possible diagnosis, and I will recommend potential treatments that may be helpful. If my recommendations include medication, I will review the pros and cons of each medication as well as possible alternatives. With this information, we will work as a team to decide on the best path forward.
It is important to recognize that psychiatry is a complicated specialty, especially when it comes to children. Not every child treated with a specific medication responds in the same way. Most children will require dosing adjustments, changes in medications, or the addition of other medications before arriving at the most effective treatment. For this reason, it is important for me to see your child on a regular basis for follow-up visits.
Follow-Up Visits
45 minutes: $650
Follow-up visits are a chance for us to discuss how your child is doing. Have you noticed any changes in their behavior? Are they eating, sleeping, and functioning well at home, school, and in other situations? Have you noticed any side effects or unwanted changes? The information I receive from you and your child is critical to ensuring that we are on the right track, and it provides an opportunity for us to change course if needed. As always, I will discuss my thoughts and recommendations, and we will work together to decide on the best approach.
The frequency of follow-up visits will vary depending on how your child is doing. We will usually start with visits every 4-6 weeks, but we may meet less frequently once your child is stable and doing well.
